Playing and learning
What are the rules of Sudoku?
Fill the 9×9 grid with digits 1–9 so that every row, column and 3×3 box contains each digit exactly once. The starting clues cannot be changed. Choose a cell, then enter a digit with the on-screen controls or your keyboard.
Start with Easy and use the technique guides to learn how to find the next logical step.
Is the game free? Do I need an account?
The browser game is free to play, with no advertising interruptions and no account required. You do not need to sign in to Google. Our Privacy Policy describes the analytics used to improve the site.
How do difficulty levels work?
The game offers Easy, Medium, Hard, Master, Grandmaster and Apex. Difficulty reflects the logical techniques used to solve a puzzle, rather than simply the number of empty cells. Begin with a comfortable level and move up as you learn more techniques. See the difficulty overview.
What does the colored progress line mean?
The line represents solution steps and their difficulty. Upcoming colors reflect the solver's analysis of the current board; they can change as the board changes. An elimination may be needed before a placement, so a segment can reflect a harder technique that unlocks that placement. It is a guide to the current solution path, rather than a guarantee that everyone will follow the same route.
How do pencil marks and hints work?
Use pencil mode to record possible digits in an empty cell. A hint explains a logical deduction using the current board and candidates. Some techniques remove candidates instead of placing a digit immediately; that elimination can make a placement possible in a later step.
If the game reports mistakes, check your entries. If pencil marks are incomplete, the hint system may offer to fill the correct marks. If an explanation still appears incorrect, send the board and hint to support.
What is the difference between Solver and Trainer?
The Solver lets you enter a grid and explore logical deductions. The Trainer provides positions for practicing particular techniques. The technique guides explain the patterns with examples.
Saved games and installation
Where are my game and statistics saved?
Progress, preferences and personal playing statistics are saved locally in your browser. Return using the same browser profile and site address to access that data. There is no account-based synchronization between devices or browsers.
Why did my progress disappear?
Private browsing, clearing cookies or site data, changing browser profiles, and browser storage cleanup can make saved data unavailable. An installed app may also use a different storage context depending on the browser and device. Check the original browser and profile first. Because progress is stored locally, support may not be able to restore a deleted save.
Can I install Sudoked on my phone or computer?
Use the Install action on the game page when available. On iPhone or iPad, open the site in Safari and use Share → Add to Home Screen. Other browsers may offer Install app or Add to Home Screen in their menu. Availability depends on your browser and device; the game can also be played in a normal browser tab.
How do I delete local game data?
Use your browser's settings to remove site data for Sudoked.com. This removes locally saved games, statistics and preferences; it does not delete analytics information already processed by Google. Read the Privacy Policy for more choices and contact details.
The page looks outdated or a feature is not working. What should I try?
Reload the page or close and reopen the browser or installed app. Check that you are using a current browser. Avoid clearing site data as a first troubleshooting step, because it can erase your progress. If the problem continues, send the page address, browser, device and a description to support.
